Life Lately…

I have been enjoying my one month break  so far and so as my little girl. Our days normally consists of waking up late, eating breakfast during lunch time, spending time in the living room watching tv together and so on and so forth. Yanna would play non stop uninterrupted the whole day and it seems that to her it isn’t enough. During nights she asks me to let her play more and will sleep later. I kinda spoiled her on her bedtime now but it will change though when school starts again. And then late at night she would lie down on her own bed asking me to turn on the fairy lights for her until she fell asleep.

Most nights I fall asleep really late without having to wake up early the next morning. It feels really great to wake up without an alarm clock ringing. I can wake up any time I want. No hurries and worries. Before I go to bed I check some news and updates which I don’t really care too much. The world is getting scary lately and to be honest we don’t know what place is safe or not. I’m trying to escape from reality and I hope I can do that. I have also been trying not to use Facebook anymore. Browsing my timeline makes me sick. I don’t know why!

During sunny days, Yanna and I would walk to the town, sit at the bench, eat ice cream, play at the park, play bubbles and just enjoying the warm day and the sun burning our skin. We would always go the “sininen puisto” as Yanna would call it. It’s a new and big playground in town and she really loves being there. It’s quite far from where we live but walking there with her is so much fun. I always make sure to bring extra pants for her and a jacket in case it gets cold in the afternoon. Sometimes it’s so hot during the day but late afternoon sometimes it gets cold and I have to make sure we’re always ready no matter what the weather is. Yanna is so into ladybugs. When we’re at the park she always finds ladybugs and plays them with her tiny hands and happily showing it to me. “Äiti, look what I found” in Finnish dialect.

One thing that Yanna really likes to do is riding a bus going to the next town. I’m taking advantage of having a bus card and use it as many times as I want. And that means we can ride a bus anytime we want. We love going shopping together. Sometimes she chooses some clothes and shows it to me and I can’t help but smile. She already knows what she wants and not want. I’ve tried to explain to her that not all that she want she can get it. So normally when we are at the shop I don’t buy anything. I don’t want her to be like other kids who will cry over toys and then the parents buy that just to make the kid stop crying. I don’t like her to be spoiled. Don’t get me wrong each parent is different and we all do what we think is best especially for our child/children.

I’m getting used to just me and Yanna in the house. It’s peaceful and quiet. And I think that she understands a little what our life now. It’s not the same from what we used to but we are sure happy about it. We spend a lot of quality time together. And I make sure she feels cared for and loved. That’s the most important thing.

Summer is really nice here. Warm and sunny. We haven’t gone to any far places though. I mean no traveling yet. But I do look forward to bring Yanna somewhere and explore the places around us. And of course to visit our family in the Philippines one day.

We have done a lot. And soon this holiday break is over. I will be back to my busy days and Yanna will surely be happy to be back to the daycare and play with her friends again.

Thanks for reading!
